Poem of the Month

February Sabbath

A peach sun rises in the east

A half moon hangs in the west

the cat fed

on this Sabbath dawn,

all is settled.

We can be kind to one another

bake, enjoy the news of children,

decide that certain difficulties

have run their course,

thumb through travel books,

allow vague dreams to take wing,

think about buying a new pair

of boots —

of opening the door

long sealed against the cold.

Of opening.

I am sure that you are holding the warmth of the coming season in your heart!
