Come Away to Soulful Presence
Maybe you are feeling like I have been lately – a little dislocated by the hurry-up start-up of fall: new vaccines to schedule, new policies at work, a new school year, church newcomer BBQs, new study groups…
The screen door needs replacing, a tree limb comes down. A cousin gets bad health news.
In this season of changes vast or invisible, it is good to remember that only the present moment offers us a gateway to the deep core of existence. Only this moment — Now — invites our freedom to choose:
— how to be conscious, what to notice and nurture, how use our capacities (creatively or wastefully), whether we open ourselves to the life in front of us, or shut down around our anxieties, injuries, losses, fears.
The present moment is the space we are allotted in which to speak truth, offer reconciliation, to heal, to practice kindness. to make existence meaningful.
On Saturday, September 30, I invite you to join me for a morning of “presence” and meaning-making at Bethany House of Prayer in Arlington, MA, where I direct the Contemplative Writers Group. We will spend contemplative time in nature, and write to gentle prompts within the space of a morning’s freedom.
You will return to your life with a soulful practice with which to deepen your autumn days.
